Angie couldn’t contain her excitement a moment longer. She stared at the long pale brown building. The openings to the interior were curved, tear-drop shaped where they touched the intricate carvings forming a frieze. She wasn’t sure of the reasons for the domes on the roof, but they added to the exotic appearance of the stable. The moment Tarik stopped the car she bolted to the fence where young horses frolicked.

She glanced back. He leaned against the rear of the car watching her. Why did he have to exude sexuality? The reasons for her presence in Touzar had nothing to do with a handsome prince. She planned to use the magazine as the first step in her plan and the website gave her another arrow for her bow. She planned to save money and follow the directions set forth in “The Book.”

She wasn’t here to explore the sensations storming her body every time a certain prince invaded her space.

Angie stopped to take pictures of the exterior of the stable and of the foals in the field. She used her phone and also the digital camera. She turned in circles and realized there were other buildings and pastures beyond where she and Tarik had parked.

“Tarik, tell me about the farm.”

He walked toward her. Prowled seemed more like it. He had the grace of a leopard slinking through the brush preparing for a kill. She swallowed against a rising desire and knew her face had turned red again.

“This building is where the riding steeds are kept.” He gestured for her to follow him inside. “Some of the horses are for guests to ride and others are boarded here by their owners.”

Angie stepped into the welcome coolness provided by the thick walls and the flow of air. “What a magnificent establishment.” She halted and spoke into her phone. “I should have brought my tablet to record notes.” She turned to him. “You have the greatest job in the world. Don’t you agree?”

He frowned and nodded. His expression confused her.

“Maybe I’ll feel that way when I discover and solve the problems here.”

“You will.” She figured he could do anything. Wasn’t he a prince? “Wait until I finish the website.”

“I look forward to that.”

“Are we going to ride/”

“That’s why we came.”

She danced ahead. “I want to see everything.”

Tarik laughed. “One afternoon won’t be enough.”

“I know, but you could introduce me to the various stable masters so I could return and talk with them.”

Tarik’s shoulders slumped. “I don’t know them all.”

“Then we’ll meet them together. If this was my job I’d be here at least three days a week. How often do you come?”

“I’ve only been once. I’m tied up with the records.”

Angie imagined having all the responsibility thrown at him created immense confusion. Especially when his life, until recently, had involved women, parties and alcohol.

She stooped and studied the floor. Her hands touched the interlocking bricks and discovered they were rubber. Expensive and top quality. She looked into one of the box stalls, square and roomy.
